If you've thought a lot about whether or not to start an online business, then you're really not alone.
With the advancements in technology and the internet, starting an online business has become easier and cheaper.
But if you still need a little persuasion, here's 12 reasons why there's really no better time than now to get started in 2021.
Starting an online business? Favorite reasons listed.
Now there are certainly more than a dozen reasons to get started, but let's take a look at some of the most common (and most inspiring!) Ones. Most likely, the latter is the favorite, but let's get started first.
You can really work on your business anywhere in the world
Many people refer to this as "geographic freedom," which means you can work on your online business from virtually anywhere.
Of course you need an internet connection, hosting for your online business and probably a good laptop. Or maybe a tablet or phone is all you need. But in any case you are not limited to a permanent job (as in the usual business world) where you can only work from a desk / place that you have been assigned.
Also combine work and travel
Starting an online business and traveling? Suppose traveling is one of your biggest hobbies ...
Since you're not tied to an agency, nothing will stop you from traveling from destination to destination while continuing to work on your business. There are of course many travel bloggers who do this full-time and actually make all their trips the center of their business.
Regardless of which location you choose to work from, an online business gives you a lot of flexibility to work wherever you want. And also whenever you want, which brings us to the following reason ...
You can organize your own time and follow schedule
Get rid of the 9 to 5 time (and mindset)! Unless you like these regular times, of course.
When you work for someone else, you are often expected to go to work at a certain time, work for a certain time and then go home around a certain time.
However, when you start your own online business, you are in control of when (and where) you work.
So if you have kids and want the flexibility to work around their (or their school) schedule, you can!
Or maybe you're just not a morning person and you're really in your flow at night to blast.
Or maybe you prefer to split your work into blocks of time throughout the day.
With your own company you have the flexibility to work whenever you want. This can also be advantageous if you want to avoid certain crowds ...
You're the boss
Now this can be a blessing as well as a curse. Because, as an entrepreneur, you are the boss.
This means that there is no one telling you what to do or how to do it!
But that also means that you have to be responsible for everything, including the course you set.
If you're not the type of person who is good at managing yourself, you may find it challenging to be your own boss.
But the good news is that over time, you will learn to be increasingly self-managing as you gain experience in the world of online business.
Complete creative freedom
Have you ever been to work and said or thought, “I can't believe they let us do it this way. I would do it very differently if it were up to me! ”
Starting an online business? Well, with your own company you are in complete control. You have the creative freedom to do whatever you want. If a problem arises, you have full control to come up with the best solution.
And if there is something new you want to create, no one will stop you from using your own creativity.
This is actually one of the things about starting their own online business that most people personally find the most liberating. You will probably experience it that way too!
Lower car costs and less (public) transport
You probably think it is not that bad or you do not think about it. But as time goes on, you will find that your transportation or car costs will be a whole lot less. We all know how expensive cars have become!
So when you are deciding whether to get started with starting your online business, this is a great additional reason to remember.
You create your own working environment completely
One thing that drives many people in the business world crazy is being stuck in a boring workplace, in the middle of an open office space. And of course there can always be people around that would irritate you, for example because they are on the phone loudly just when you are in utmost concentration. Nobody is waiting for that, right?
Starting an online business? Fortunately, you can then determine your own working environment.
Maybe that means working next to a window.
Maybe that means working from your own dining table.
Maybe that means buying a new desk. Or rent a flex workplace somewhere.
Even if you yourself are the one who makes loud calls or continuously uses the loudspeaker on the telephone, you have to know how to speak to people yourself.
Either way, you can design your work environment completely according to your wishes for what suits you best. After all, you are the boss!
Less exposure to germs
As weird as it may sound (or not in this corona pandemic), after many people leave the corporate world and the office to do their own thing, they generally get less ill too. No more viruses, flu and all kinds of colds - at least not from colleagues.
There is a sad reality in the business world that when people get sick, they still feel the need to “be it hard” and still get to work. The real reality is that when people do that, they're really just infecting their colleagues and the productivity from everyone. For God's sake folks, stay home if you're one of the sick people!
Recently, much to everyone's regret, the world has woken up to realize how bad a virus can be, and learned how essential it is to keep social distance when you are sick.
For those of us who were already working from home for our own company, we were already socially remote by default.
If you are considering owning your own business and starting an online business, consider this a bonus. Less exposure to germs may be even more important than we previously realized.
Lower costs for clothing and “representation”
This is another one of those reasons that you may not have thought of.
If you work for someone else and you 'go to work', you are usually expected to dress in a certain way.
If it is in the business world, then it is business attire. If it is a branch specific event, there is often specific clothing that you must wear.
When you run an online business, you are not expected to dress a certain way at all.
That means you probably don't need to buy clothes that often, nor do you need to buy clothes that are so expensive. Even if sweatpants (or shorts in a sunny place) are your thing, do your thing! Nobody is judging you.
Wear what is comfortable for you, does not get in your way and therefore allows you to do your work best.
Your income potential is in your own hands
When you work for someone else, especially if it is for a large company, there is generally a predetermined salary or pay path that you must follow.
There are salary limits, salary scales, pre-set wages for certain tasks or functions and more.
But with an online business, your income potential really lies with you.
You choose how much effort you want to put into it and which products and services you want to create.
That, in combination with how the market views your products or services, determines your income potential.
As you grow and scale, your income potential will grow and scale with it.
Start an online business? A story to tell.
Have you ever noticed how boring most people have it? Often when you ask people what they've been up to, they'll always say they just worked. No one ever really wants to talk about what they are doing because it is usually so boring and people would like to change the subject.

As people you as independent entrepreneur what you do for a living, you passionately tell that you are an online entrepreneur, so that you experience many more questions and interest from others who have an average job. Many people often see you as a more interesting person if you are an online business owner.
Making a difference in the world
A previously heard quote from a quote is something like this:
The amount of money you make is a direct reflection of how much value you're providing to the world.
In other words, the amount of money you make is a direct reflection of how much value you give the world first.
As an employee you basically just do what is expected of you ... Nothing more, nothing less. Most of the time you mainly do tasks for which the company needs you so that it can save time and make money.
It is often difficult to have a lot of influence on people's daily lives if you just have an average job. But running your own business gives you the opportunity to create jobs, fulfill a market need, solve customers' problems and much more.
Look around you. Everything in the room started with an entrepreneur who had the idea of making and selling it. They impact millions of people and they get paid a lot of money for it. To receive, you must first give.
You can help improve the world with your company, especially if it is online, because then you can reach many more people who want to become your customers because of great products or services.
You're gonna live your own dream (and not someone else's)
This is actually the absolute favorite of many people.
When you work for someone else, your employers or executives are the driving force behind the company and they have the dreams and vision for the company.
But when you start your own online business, you create the complete vision for your company yourself.
If you want to dream big, you can. And you should actually do that to grow and scale up.
So, dream big and keep taking steps… Your destination is your own choice!
Start an online business? To work…!
