The seven chakras are the main energy centers of the body. You've probably heard people talk about "unblocking" their chakras, which refers to the idea that when all our chakras are open, energy can flow freely through them, creating harmony between the physical body and the mind.

Each of the seven chakras has a specific meaning and color, and in this article we will walk you through the meaning of all seven chakras, their colors, and the areas of our health and life that these chakras affect.

What are chakras?

Chakras have only recently become more widely known, with the growth in popularity of yoga and New Age philosophies in general. They are a complex and ancient energy system that originated in India. They were first mentioned in the Vedas, ancient sacred texts.

Chakras are the circular energy vortices that are placed at seven different points on the spine of your body, and all seven chakras are connected to the various organs and glands in the body. These chakras are responsible for disrupting the life energy, also known as Qi or Praana.

Chakra (cakra in Sanskrit) means 'wheel' and refers to energy points in your body. They are thought to be spinning disks of energy that must remain "open" and aligned as they interact with our nerves, major organs and parts of our energetic body that affect our emotional and physical well-being.
